Another Geneva City Council meeting in the books! Council addressed several key issues last night, including most prominently the adoption our our incredible Comprehensive Plan. Here are the deets…
Comprehensive Plan Adoption
After some really great public comment, challenging Council to enhance anticipated funding allocations for economic mobility, Council unanimously adopted the Comprehensive Plan with an effort allocation projected at $250,000 to $1,000,000 over the next fifteen years. All other aspects of the latest draft remained intact, and staff is ready to jump into implementation.
Sales Tax Agreement
Council also unanimously approved a seven year agreement with Ontario County for the distribution of countywide sales tax proceeds. This locks in a distribution formula that has generated over $20,000,000 to the City of Geneva since its inception in 2006. The new agreement extends the current terms to the close of 2023.
Council approved the sale of a small lot at 282 Exchange Street to an adjacent property owner, and authorized staff to surplus police radio equipment for auction. They also set public hearings for the 2017 budget. Those hearings will be held at 7 p.m. on October 5th at the Public Safety Building, 255 Exchange Street.
The next regular Council meeting is scheduled for October 5th at 7 p.m. at 255 Exchange Street.
